Total War Three Kingdoms takes you to one of the most powerful empires of the third century AD, the Han Dynasty of China. Long years of political strife, favoritism and lack of will of the young emperors undermined the authority of the Son of Heaven, and power actually ended up in the hands of major military commanders. Agriculture is in decline, barbarians are constantly disturbing the borders, trade is almost at a standstill, but in the capital the emperor and his retinue are bathing in luxury.
