During an experiment to test a new hyperluminal engine, the crew of a spaceship of earthlings is thrown into an unknown sector of the Universe. The cause of the engine failure is unclear, but now no one on the team has any idea how to reconfigure it back and make such a grand jump. Moreover, none of the cosmonauts can understand where they are and how to return home. There seem to be no signs of life on the nearest planet, the engine circuit is working in emergency mode and is about to explode, and there are only supplies for two weeks of autonomous flight. What to do now? You will have to find a way to return home, but it will be a very long journey.
In The Long Journey Home, you'll have to travel all the time. Your biggest enemy is your own supplies. It is impossible to stock up on water, fuel and provisions for an indefinite period, which means that you will have to constantly look for a way to replenish supplies. It could be a small asteroid rich in resources, an orbital station, or a planet of an alien race. But will everyone be ready to welcome you with open arms?? Some of the non-Russians will be ready to help you at the first request, with someone you will have to negotiate in long diplomatic negotiations, and for someone the blaster cannons of your ship will be the best arguments.
The most important advantage of The Long Journey Home is complete and incredible freedom of action. And it is complete in the most literal sense of the word - there is no storyline as such in the game, you are free to move in the direction in which you see fit. The same applies to all your actions in the game - you can help a ship that has an accident in space, or you can simply plunder it. Nevertheless, you need to take into account the fact that each of your actions leads to certain consequences - if, for example, you rob everyone in a row, is it any wonder that soon the first patrol ship you meet will not even talk to you, but will simply put a couple of plasma charges into the side?
