The story begins with character generation. This exciting process allows you to experiment with changing the appearance of your hero: you can mold the desired facial features, decide on a hairstyle, choose a wardrobe. There are more than enough variations of settings. The characters turn out to be extremely expressive and fully correspond to the general strict style of playing. Having finished creating an alter ego, you are transported to New York in the late 40s. The main task is to get their hands on the future Big Apple. To do this, you must, firstly, earn the title of Godfather of the Corleone family. And secondly, to send the heads of competing clans to feed the fish. A kind of hierarchical staircase leads to Don's chair, which can be climbed by completing story missions. The tasks develop in parallel with the events of the film of the same name, or very successfully complement them. For example, after the assassination attempt on Vito Corleone, you are "at full speed" driving an ambulance, trying to get Don to the hospital as quickly as possible. Then put a gun in the restroom of the restaurant, with which Michael Corleone will kill Sallazzio. There are a huge number of such points of intersection with the film script. However, do not think that if you have not seen Francis Coppola's picture, you will get less pleasure from the game. On the contrary, the story will be more interesting and unexpected.

In your free time from story missions in the game, you take care of increasing the influence of the Corleone clan in different urban areas. There are only five of them: Little Italy, Brooklyn, Midtown, Hell's Kitchen and New Jersey. Each of the districts is initially controlled by a certain family. Everywhere there are many "points of interest": these are all kinds of shops, hotels, clubs, brothels, underground gambling houses, etc. D. In order for the institution to come under your patronage and begin to generate income, you need to talk to its owner. However, at first you have to fight off the guards. It should be noted that the hosts are all intractable - you have to "press" a little. The main thing is not to overdo it, because there is no benefit from a lifeless body.
As you may have guessed, almost any issue can be solved by force. A hand-to-hand combat system called Blackhand was developed for the game, the main feature of which is the correspondence of blows to the movements of analog sticks. For a weak poke, you just need to move the stick forward, and to make an uppercut, you need to swing it properly (the stick towards you) and lean your whole body (the stick sharply forward). If you prefer the PC version of the game, we advise you to take care of a good gamepad right away. The traditional control scheme (keyboard + mouse) is not very convenient in this case.
Numerous objects of the environment also play a certain role: you can, for example, put your opponent's head on a tombstone or effectively throw him into a burning furnace. The combat system is intuitive, the blows are easily linked in combinations... Waving your fists (you have to do it often) is a pleasure. It should be noted that brawls become noticeably more active when baseball bats, water pipe clippings and police batons are used.
Firearms are also worthy of positive reviews. It was tastefully selected for "The Godfather" - there are options from simple police revolvers to the latest automatic models. The possibility of upgrades has also been provided. There are a number of comments on the balance sheet. The Tommy-gun, elevated to a cult, is not at all impressive, because its power is very low, and it consumes cartridges simply at a phenomenal speed: a short burst - and the magazine is empty. The killing power of the legendary magnum is too high, thanks to which almost any enemy goes to heaven after one (maximum two) hits. If the developers hadn't limited the Magnum's ammo, it would have turned into a real Über weapon, just killing the gameplay.
