The Sims 4 doesn't have a clear story, and the gameplay is non-linear and doesn't have a set end goal. The player controls the self-created character, directing him to perform various activities and create relationships with other characters similar to real life. The game takes place in fictional worlds made in the spirit of modernity. They are inhabited by ready-made families and non-player characters who live in it according to the given storylines. At any time, the player can take control of any family and change the course of events without any restrictions in his actions.

As in previous games in the series, the concept of gameplay remains the same, with the player controlling their character through a variety of activities and relationships similar to real life. The Sims 4 features non-linear gameplay with no set end goal.
Gameplay in The Sims 4 is a real-life simulator. The player controls the life of one or more characters by satisfying the various wants and needs of one or more characters. The action takes place in a town consisting of residential and public lots and inhabited by ready-made Sims. Each character is endowed with intelligence and emotions, has a unique appearance and personality. Relationships between characters are measured on two scales responsible for friendship and romance. The game has a built-in "Create a Sim" that allows you to create your own Sim or modify an existing one. The player can customize age, appearance and physique, voice timbre, character and abilities, some preferences and life goals. The game is equipped with a number of tools for changing the interior and building settings.
The entire interface is located at the bottom of the game window. In the lower left corner there is a character icon indicating his emotional state and small icons of other family members. There are also 6 needs, when you click on the icon of each of them, a satisfaction bar will appear. In the lower right corner, there are buttons for live, buy, and build modes. In the center of the pause and start buttons. When the game is paused, there will no longer be a red border, instead a translucent white edge will appear around the edges of the screen.
The Sims 4 is developed on an all-new engine, which is complemented by the new Smart Sim technology. It gives the characters the ability to have conversations with each other and react to what is happening with different emotions. Almost the entire gameplay depends on the emotional state of the character, his mood, skills, desires and actions change depending on the feelings experienced. In The Sims 4, a Sim can perform multiple actions at the same time and complete tasks in a group with other Sims. The game offers an extensive selection of professions, allowing you to go through certain stages of work that require you to communicate with other Sims.
