As for the graphics. The game is developed on the Frostbite 3 engine and allows you to use many modern developments in terms of graphics. The gameplay is made in the form of a "third person" and is already familiar to many fans of the series.
At the very beginning of the stage, the player can choose not only the model of the car, but also the gearbox - it is no secret that experienced players prefer mechanics, although it is more convenient for someone to play with an automatic transmission. Multiplayer mode is not even worth talking about - it is a priority here.
There are four car options for the player to choose from:
- Supercars
- Muscle cars
- Cars with tuning
- Special vehicles (fire trucks, taxis, municipal transport)
Unfortunately, it is impossible to play on special equipment from the very beginning - it is not so easy to get access to it, so you need to either complete various tasks or hack the game. As for the rest of the cars, they are completely identical to those that exist in the real world. Each car has a detailed description of technical characteristics, history, and so on. This also applies to the tracks – they also correspond to the real ones in the smallest detail, but some of them are virtual, and they do not exist in the real world.
From the start, the player gets access to a couple of tracks and several car models, but to access the rest, you need to complete the game.
Need for Speed: Edge was developed with experts from several countries where EA has offices. These are the English studio Criterion Games, the Swedes from Ghost Games, the Korean branch of Spearhead and the Canadians from EA Black Box. But the main work on the development of the project was done by Dontnod Entertainment.
