The game begins with the random generation of wild, but not unexplored territory (there is no fog of war here) to turn it into a prosperous city. As the lord of a small medieval kingdom, you must manage important and subordinate families by giving them tasks, collecting taxes, and making sure they are strong enough to work and happy enough to produce offspring by producing new little subjects. Forget the hordes of worker ants that roam the map tirelessly, human resources are really taken into account here: three families are allotted, about fifteen people in total.
Of course, nothing comes for free, and you have to choose how to tax unsuspecting slaves. With a percentage of the harvest? Make them pay rent? Or simply appropriate everything by paying them two coins for their hard work? Economic choices can affect the outcome of a match. You can't count on men to work 24/7, and you need to provide them with a minimum of comfort. As a lord, you have the right to build your own mansion worthy of your title, and deprive the family of a child to make him a personal servant.
