Dungeon Siege 2 takes place long before the events of the first game. Many centuries ago, two powerful gods - the good Azunai and the evil Zaramoth - clashed in a battle for the right to reign in this world. Their battle lasted a very long time, but when Azunai's shield could not withstand it, Zaramoth managed to defeat him, as a result of which evil broke out into the world. A series of disasters, epidemics and cataclysms destroyed almost all kingdoms in a matter of days and plunged the world into chaos for many years. Several centuries passed. The powerful warlord Valdis, armed with a powerful artifact - the sword of Zaramoth - goes on a campaign. His goal is the kingdom of forest dryads, safely hidden in the thick of dense forests. Along with other mercenaries, the main character joins the army of Valdis along with his companion. But, as it turns out, Valdis has completely different goals - he is not going to conquer dryads, he only needs their main temple. After he still manages to defeat the temple guards, he takes the artifact he needs, and then suddenly attacks his own people in order not to leave a single witness alive. Only by a miracle does your hero manage to survive and is found by dryads, wounded and on the verge of death.

This world is mercilessly torn apart in the chaos of civil war, provoked by the rebellious aristocrat Valdis. Somehow, he managed to get hold of an ancient artifact - the sword of the god of evil Zaramoth and now he led his rebel army to seize power in the kingdom.
Your character is a rather ambiguous character. For some time, he served Valdis as a mercenary, but after he was almost killed on Valdis' orders, he went over to the side of good. But the attitude of others towards him is the same, since he was in the rebel's army and you will have to make a lot of effort to change him.
⚔️ Gameplay
The gameplay itself is a third-person view - the developers decided to leave the controls familiar to gamers from the first part. But the combat system was significantly modernized - combo strikes, combinations and unique techniques appeared.
In total, Dungeon Siege 2 has four combat systems: two "weapon" (melee and ranged) and two magical (combat and healing magic). Each of the systems has a unique development branch with many skills. Skills are pumped not for experience points, but as a particular skill is used – for example, the more often a character shoots a bow, the more this skill is pumped.
As such, there is no death in battle - if you play alone, you will automatically resurrect in the nearest town instead of dying. If you already have a party, then the character with reduced health to zero simply loses consciousness and another member of the group can resurrect him.
In total, there can be up to five people in a group, plus a pet that helps you in battle and can also deal damage to enemies.
